Rangers are in the midst of a thrilling European tie against Slovenian side Maribor at Ibrox this evening, with the first leg currently poised at 1-1 after a lightning quick 45 minutes.

Taking the lead through Alfredo Morelos just minutes into the match, the visitors grew into the game more and more as the half went on, eventually equalising through Gregor Bajde.

It’s been a high intensity match-up, with the midfield performances crucial if Steven Gerrard’s side are going to go on and win this game.

One player with pass marks so far is Lassana Coulibaly, who is putting in a hell of a shift so far, pressing the Sloevnians and getting stuck into challenges.

He’s been superb in the early stages of the season and continues to look impressive tonight, although Maribor definitely began to start playing past him just prior to the half-time whistle.

Can he help the team get ahead again in this one and take a victory to the away leg next week?

Fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on Coulibaly’s performance so far…

  • Coullbally is a big strong midfielder, its what Rangers have been lacking and we have Ryan Jack to come back. He has surprised me, he looks to be a player, The teddy bears are beginning to look like a decent team, LONG OVERDUE. W. A. T. P.
