Rangers have previously been linked with a move for Motherwell’s Allan Campbell and the Light Blues will have to be decisive if they want to secure the talented midfielder with him attracting interested from England, according to Football Insider.

Campbell is one of the first names in Scotland’s Under-21 side and is now able to speak to teams to discuss a pre-contract move, however, the 22-year old remains focussed on the job in hand at the struggling Lanarkshire side, as reported by the Motherwell Times:

“I’ve been here a good few years now.

“It’s been good to come through all the ranks and eventually get the chance to play in the first team, play as good a number of games as I have and, hopefully, I can just keep kicking on and playing a good few more.”

Campbell has two goals an one assist in his 22 appearances for the Steelmen and is predominantly known for his “all action” style of play, capable of getting up and down the pitch to support both defence and attack.

Who would you rather have?

Lewis Ferguson

It’s debatable whether or not he would be able to impact the first-team at Rangers and, personally, I’d rather have Stephen Kelly drafted into the squad, he has shown in his time at Ross County that he can cope with the physicality of the league and has a passing range that would suit our system.

The fact that he is available for free does make it a more attractive deal though, he could be loaned back out and if he isn’t up to scratch, sold at a profit, it is an aspect of the transfer market we have neglected in recent years but one that under Ross Wilson we are gradually getting right.
