All about us as Rangers shift mindset for Aberdeen

We already know that it will be a totally different Aberdeen side that faces Rangers tonight, not in terms of personnel, but in terms of effort and intensity.

When Jim Goodwin set up his side to defend their own box whilst leaving two men up top, the plan was clearly to try to create 1v1 and 2v2 opportunities, however, this can only happen if you actually try to win the ball back.

Michael Beale wants his Rangers team to concentrate on their own game plan and let others worry about them, of course, he is right in that if we play to our potential then we will have too much for an Aberdeen team that we have already beaten comfortably this season in what was, arguably, our best performance in the league under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

There is no logical reason for our away form to be so poor in comparison and a new mindset and approach has to be maintained.

Go there with three defensive midfielders like Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Glen Kamara in midfield and it sends out a message straight away.

It would also give Aberdeen encouragement because none of them are known for being pro livid goal scorers or for being able to play defence splitting passes. It would be playing right into their hands.

The second half against Hibs is exactly how these games should be approached; on the front foot, winning the ball high up the park, moving the ball quickly and Loki g to get behind rather than crossing from in front of a packed and set defence.

Hibs were a good test, however, Aberdeen away is the perfect metric by which to measure what this team is capable of under Beale.
