In a near mirror image of his time at Rangers, Alfredo Morelos’s departure from Scottish football is turning out to be far from straight forward with the news that two Bundesliga sides have entered the running for the Colombian international.

The Scottish Sun claims that Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart are linked with a move for the striker with reports originally coming from his homeland going as far as to suggest that there is a “concrete” offer on the table.

Lille have been the front runners in the saga for most of the summer having had bids of over £16million rejected but will need to up the ante if they are to finally secure Morelos’s services, Ross Wilson can be justified in his approach so far by refusing to accept the first offer that came along – a potential bidding war must be music to his ears.

Will Rangers get £20m for Morelos?

As things stand, Rangers position remains the same as it has for some time now, offer £20m and he’s yours, the fact that sizeable bids have already been rejected at least sets a benchmark figure of where clubs would need to start negotiations.

The quicker that his sale can be finalised, the quicker that Steven Gerrard can potentially add a couple more players of genuine quality to his squad, having declared new arrivals as “imminent” and that he expected deals to be completed during the international week, Gers fans will be hoping that he is true to his word as they look for something to lift the spirits in the absence of any proper football.
