I always have to look from behind my hands when I see that Joey Barton`s been having a go again because, unfortunately, he does have a tendency to embarrass himself.
When he arrived he certainly talked a good game and I was excited to see what he could do but, despite having a decent record in matches here, he wasn`t really anything special was he? Certainly, I`d never say we missed him when he left and so for him to now come out and say that the standard was below his ability, well I just don`t think it washes.
He had the chance to become a new cult hero for us but he largely looked off of the pace and, as much as I hate to really say it, I think Chris Sutton has got elements of his appraisal of Joey spot on in this tweet.
You`ve got to love Joey..Good career but he was found wanting for Rangers and simply couldn`t handle the big club pressure so it was everyone else`s fault… So Scottish football is rubbish..And he`s had a better career than Lustig and Brown…mmm https://t.co/A2xJ88cGr9
