Alfredo Morelos’s future at Rangers looks a little more secure after his agent took steps to quash rumours of a potential move to Italy which had been suggested by an intermediary with no connection to the Colombian international.

The Daily Record reported that Morelos’s representatives – World in Motion – were left seething that Miki Boureoui – another agent –  had tried to interfere with their client and Michael Gorman, the player’s real advisor, informed Colombian news outlet Golombianos exactly where they stood on the matter:

“We do not know him (Boureoui).

“It has nothing to do with us or with Morelos. He is a liar.”

A pretty damning assessment of Boureoui’s involvement after he had claimed just a day earlier that he had recommended Rangers top goals scorer to Napoli’s Sporting Director:

“Last year he was the top scorer in Scotland and this year he scored a lot with Glasgow Rangers.

“I had proposed him to Giuntoli (Napoli sporting director), after he had given me his approval.

“He is a very valuable player for whom there are different clubs interested, especially in the Premier League, but his preference is to move to Italy.”

Morelos remains a key player for Steven Gerrard and despite former Celtic player, Mark Wilson, claiming that he might not be worth £10-15million, the Ibrox club will be hoping to achieve at least double that – regardless of the financial impact that the coronavirus pandemic has had on football.

Where does Rangers "target" Lyndon Dykes current play his football?

Rangers, after bolstering their squad with the acquisitions of Jon McLaughlin and Calvin Bassey, will now turn their attentions to players that can improve the first XI and provide some much needed support for their talisman who has had to shoulder much of the goalscoring burden over the last two seasons.

Gers fans will be hoping that the likes of Kemar Roofe, who has been linked with a move to Ibrox, have been identified to bring additional firepower and not as a replacement for the charismatic Colombian.
