I hate to sound like I’m joining in with the scapegoating but there can be no denying that Jon Flanagan is in trouble at the moment.
He’s had good moments in his career and I think he could still prove decent for us but he is the most one-footed footballer I have seen and so to keep having him on the left is futile.
We saw that last night.
Time and again he was exposed in his role as players ran off him and the ball was played inside.
Truly, this was not a performance he will want to look back on but, unfortunately, many of our fans will be.
He, for me, now needs to come out of the side for a bit and reassess.
I still think there is a good footballer in there, of course, but he needs to have a break after what was a poor display last night.
