Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have a watching brief from the stands tomorrow, but the Rangers supporters have an address from their manager to look forward to, on Sunday morning.

The Dutchman’s reign gets underway officially on Monday morning, when he will meet the squad for the first time as well as speaking to the media in his initial press conference as Rangers manager.

First of all, Rangers TV has the very first interview with GvB and it will be released ahead of the League Cup semi-final against Hibs at Hampden. It will be a interesting occasion for the incoming gaffer who will effectively helpless in terms of affecting the outcome of the game, given that the team of David McCallum, Brian Gilmour and Jermain Defoe will be the management for the day.

Earlier tonight, a trailer was released by RTV, whetting the appetite for more to come:

GvB stated, “I’m looking forward to meeting the fans again, after so many years.”

“You can see my first interview with Rangers TV tomorrow morning.”

Excitement

Tomorrow is just the start of it for the Rangers supporters – but the onus is well and truly on the players to get past Hibs and secure a place in next month’s final. Do that and Gio’s reign is off to a positive start once he is actually at the coal face. If not, it adds a further element of expectation to Thurday’s Europa League tie and a lot of noise that we could do without.

Hampden will be splattered with plenty of colourful orange in an ode to the new boss – it’s what football is all about, the highs and the lows and everything in between supporting your team.

What’s done is done, now the excitement of the Van Bronckhorst era at Ibrox is truly underway and hopefully a win in Mount Florida on Sunday can carry that feel good factor into the start of the the Rangers treble winner’s first full week on his return to the club.
