Ross Wilson has spoken to the supporters following the appointment of Giovanni van Bronckhorst as the new manager of Rangers.
It is fair to say that the fans were impressed with what the sporting director had to say in regard to the process that was concluded yesterday and in general, to provide a glimpse of the work undertaken by Wilson and his department to oversee the football operations at the club.
It was revealed that Van Bronckhorst will have a watching brief on Sunday, as expected, before getting to grips with his new role from Monday when the players return to the training pitch after the weekend.
The type of communication and info that was provided by RangersTV, below, is exactly what the fans want and it breeds confidence in terms of how Rangers are now operating. Due to the state that different departments were in, at the time Steven Gerrard was appointed, there was always going to be some upheaval when he departed including several personnel but since Ross Wilson’s time at the club, as within his remit, the ‘director of football model’ means that generally the manager in traditional terms is more of a head coach and that if/when change comes in that role, the club structure and functionality isn’t affected too much.
It is for the good of the club and over the next few weeks, we will see just how the transition works now that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is in place.
As can be gauged by the Twitter reaction to the RTV content, the fans were delighted and gave a massive thumbs up for the work carried out and managed by Wilson:
@keithcareth – “Phenomenal leadership from Ross Wilson and an absolute credit to the club”
@biccparker – “Not a Rangers supporter but very impressed by Ross. Accomplished professionals are few and far between in Scottish football.”
@mutant1845 – “Thats a leader right there. I hope he stays for the long haul. Classy.”
