Aberdeen fans often sing of the ‘Northern Lights’ but the decision of those fans who unfurled a provocative banner at the recent game at Ibrox shows that not all are so bright.

Police Scotland confirmed that a 33-year old man was arrested in relation to the incident at the start of the game, last month, which Rangers won 4-1, coming from behind to secure a deserved victory in what was Rangers most polished performance of the domestic season to date.

However, it was matters in the Govan West Corner – the regular away section at Ibrox – that made other headlines due to the content on the material. The derogatory, sectarian slogan ‘Kill all H**s’ was displayed on the banner leading to this subsequent action.

A spokesperson for the police force stated:

“A 33-year old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an offensive banner being held up at a football match at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow on Saturday, October 29, 2022. He has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.”

The individual is set to face court at a future date, yet to be set.
