Sporting attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld has been linked with a move to Rangers in recent days and fans would love to see it happen.
It was Portuguese media who initially linked the former Dundee United man with a switch to Ibrox and although Steven Gerrard later refuted any interest, it’s certainly one of the most intriguing transfer reports this week.
Record said that the Gers were interested in taking the player off Sporting’s hands on a loan-to-buy basis, potentially replacing Jamie Murphy’s role in the squad after he was ruled out with a season-ending ACL injury.
Having failed to make a big first-team breakthrough at the Portuguese giants, Gauld spent last season on loan at top-flight side Aves, winning the Portuguese cup in the process.
Still young and full of potential, a return to Scottish football would be very exciting indeed.
