Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been given a one match ban by the Scottish FA for comments made to referee Bobby Madden after Sunday’s explosive derby at Celtic Park, as reported by The Scottish Sun.
The paper say that the manager was fuming with decisions made by the referee during the 2-1 defeat, making his feelings clear to the whistler.
Somehow the authorities have deemed that as out of order and he’s now facing a touchline ban.
Alfredo Morelos and Andy Halliday were sent off in the fixture.
Whether Rangers reject the one match ban offer remains to be seen but you’d expect them to fight Gerrard’s corner.
It’s just the latest fallout from a crazy 90 minutes on Sunday that has seen days of headlines in the aftermath.
The club have until Friday to respond to the citation, with an appeal coming on May 2nd if it is not accepted.
Rangers fans are furious with the decision and have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…
