Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is a man in the sights of Villarreal this week, with defender Ramiro Funes Mori admitting they need to cope with the Colombian to get a result in Thursday night’s match at Ibrox.

The two sides will face off on matchday five of the UEFA Europa League, with both teams needing a result to boost their hopes of making the knockout stages of the competition.

Funes Mori, rated at £9m by Transfermarkt, has played in all four of the Spaniard’s European matches this season and is expecting a tough test going up against Morelos.

As quoted by The Daily Record, the former Everton man said:

We know Morelos is a danger and we have to be wary of him in this match. It will be tough to stop him but that’s the kind of challenge that’s attractive to me.

This match in Glasgow will be hard for us. If we win, our future in the competition is decided.

But if we suffer a defeat, it goes to the last day.

We made errors against them in the first match in Spain which was 2-2. But we won’t travel to Scotland just to defend.

Morelos has scored four European goals this season, part of a 16 goal haul in total that has left Rangers supporters overjoyed with his contribution. He’s set to pass his total last year of 18 over the next few fixtures.

Can the 22-year-old repeat his exploits in the match at home to Rapid Vienna and score a double on Thursday? I wouldn’t bet against it.
