£3m-rated star could be set for shock Rangers exit this summer

|

Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield has emerged as a shock summer transfer target for English Premier League outfit Southampton, as reported by The Daily Mail.

The paper say they have ‘concrete interest’ in the Canadian international and that Rangers face a fight to keep him at Ibrox, despite the player only signing for Steven Gerrard last summer.

Saints value the 30-year-old as worth £3m, according to the report, although whether that would be enough to convince Rangers decision makers to part with him remains to be seen.

Arfield has been a key player in Gerrard’s team this season, making 42 appearances to date, scoring eleven goals and assisting seven times.

There’s an argument to say that attacking contribution could have been more consistent, but there’s no danger we should be thinking about letting him go in the upcoming transfer window.

The midfielder appears to be loving his time in Glasgow, but the lure of the English Premier League is always strong, so let’s hope this interest doesn’t materialise with any official offers in the close-season.

With Southampton apparently impressed, this is one to keen an eye on over the coming weeks and months.
