Quoted by the Scottish Sun, Rangers captain James Tavernier has discussed the speculation around him at the moment with Newcastle apparently keen on signing him.

The skipper has sometimes been criticised during his time at Ibrox but I personally am a fan of him and I know plenty of our supporters would like to see him stay put.

Indeed, he does provide good attacking threat down that right side as well as his defensive attributes and it would be a shame to lose him.

He is clearly thinking about Rangers at the moment, though, and, whilst he admits it’s nice to be linked to the likes of Newcastle at the moment, he isn’t looking into it too much:

“It’s a compliment and that is how I see it. But all my emphasis is on Rangers.

“Things can happen in football but I’m looking forward to this season. It’s all speculation.

“If it stays like that then I don’t get upset about it.

“I’m fully focused on the job here.”

The Gers have been very impressive in terms of the players they have signed this summer and in terms of the ones they have kept, so it would be a shame to lose a key man in the final weeks of the window.
