Lee Hodson looks set to leave Ibrox on a loan basis this summer, with new English Championship side Rotherham interested in his services ahead of the new season, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The transfer activity at the Gers has been intense already since the end of last season, with seven players arriving and nine others leaving the club.

The turnover of talent is set to continue though as Steven Gerrard continues to determine which players are and aren’t good enough for a tilt at the major honours in Scottish football next season.

Hodson has never really been an established member of the first team at Ibrox, making just 27 appearances in two seasons since joining from MK Dons.

The Northern Ireland international has been a useful utility option as back-up, but his long-term future at the club was always in doubt with the arrival of Gerrard, who is looking for a higher tier of talent in his quest to compete with Celtic in the years ahead.

It’ll be interesting to see if the club now seek another left-back option to complement Declan John, or simply forge ahead improving other areas of the team.

Does Declan John need more competition at left-back next season? Let us know in the comments below…
