The fixtures for the 2022/23 SPFL Premiership season will be released on Friday 17th June.

The last weekend of July (30/31) will see the first games of the new campaign with Rangers set to start the season away from home. That will come directly before the Champions League third qualifying round first leg, which will be followed in consecutive weeks by the second leg and then the Playoff round immediately after.

For the new season, the whole calendar will be impacted by the Winter World Cup in Qatar. As a consequence, the Premiership season will go into a shutdown after Matchday 16 on 12th Novemeber and will re-commence on 17th December for Matchday 17, just one day before the World Cup Final.

It will be a strange, unique situation.

Schedule

Although the fixtures can’t be predicted in full at this stage, there should be a pattern alternated from the recently completed season.

It means that the first ’round’ of fixtures should look like the following:

Home – Dundee United, St Johnstone, Ross County, St Mirren, Kilmarnock.
Away – Celtic, Hearts, Hibs, Livingston, Motherwell, Aberdeen.

In terms of key dates, this page on the SPFL website is a very handy reference for planning around games, as well as cup and international dates.

Selected dates of interest to follow:

SPFL Premiership fixture release – Friday 17th June
CL third qualifying round draw – Monday 18th July
CL Play-off round draw – Tuesday 2nd August

Enjoy the close season break, let your bank balance recover and indulge in the transfer rumours which will be coming thick and fast. Before we know it, the time will come to do it all again for the new season.
