£2.25m-rated star hints at big Rangers future – supporters will be delighted

|

Midfielder Scott Arfield has hinted he will be staying at Rangers for the foreseeable future, despite reports linking him with a move away from Ibrox this summer.

The Daily Mail reported last week that he had emerged as a target for English Premier League outfit Southampton ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

However the 30-year-old, valued at £2.25m by Transfermarkt, appears intent on cementing a winning legacy at Rangers, indicating he will be staying for the duration of his current contract which runs out in 2022.

As quoted by The Daily Record, the Canadian international said:

We had a big turnover at the start of the season and in January and it takes time for it all to cement and to get a trophy this year would have been a bonus with the number of players who came in and out.

But next season we are definitely there for this, the enthusiasm is there and it has to be because you are representing millions of people around the planet.

We showed that we are on course for something here.

I have a four year contract and three years left after this. People can judge me after that but I know I will have some trophies.

Although Arfield hasn’t been quite as consistent as some fans would have liked this season, he’s still been one of the signing hits of Steven Gerrard’s time at the club, so supporters should be delighted by his confident pledge.

With 11 goals and seven assists, he’s has provided an attacking threat and looked dynamite against Motherwell last time out deployed in a more advanced left flank position in support of Jermain Defoe.

Should that now be his default position?
