Having been announced as the new Rangers manager, it is widely expected that Steven Gerrard will utilise his connections with Liverpool. Ovie Ejaria has already joined, should Ben Woodburn follow his footsteps?
Naturally, due to his legendary status at the club, Steven Gerrard has developed valuable connections with Liverpool, links that could be exceedingly advantageous in his new capacity as the Rangers manager. In my opinion, the Englishman should look no further than Ben Woodburn as his next summer recruit.
The 18-year-old is a magnificent prospect, and he has already demonstrated his credentials on the international stage with Wales. Despite his age, Woodburn has already attained seven caps for Wales, scoring an indelible goal against Austria at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Without question, the teenager is regarded for his proficient dribbling ability and his blistering speed, which enables him to beat opponents with ease. Similarly, he has illustrated his impressive decision making in the final third as was shown against Moldova for his country.
Despite his limited involvement at Liverpool – he has only attained 11 first-team appearances – the Welshman has successfully exhibited his array of talents, and he could genuinely flourish if entrusted with continuous first-team involvement.
Rangers are in need of additional creativity to alleviate the pressure that Morelos and Windass shoulder and Woodburn could prove to be the perfect solution for Steven Gerrard’s side. One imagines that it wouldn’t be too complicated to navigate a loan deal for the youngster, and unless Klopp plans to involve the Welsh forward with greater regularity next term, it’s aligned with Liverpool’s interests to loan the prodigy.
If the Gers are going to reduce the distance that exists between themselves and their fierce rivals, Celtic, then they must certify that they complete astute deals in the transfer market. The arrival of Ben Woodburn would be an excellent addition to the squad.
