Hibernian boss Tony Mowbray has told Rangers they have no chance of signing Scott Brown for £1 million and insists it would take a £10 million offer to sign him.

Highly rated youngster Scott Brown has attracted the attention of a lot of clubs and Rangers are thought to be ready to offer £1 million for him.

Mowbray said there would be no chance with a bid like that, he said: ‘Why would I want to sell players? Money in the bank is no good to me – I want players on the pitch. Figures of £1m have been quoted for someone like Scott Brown, but let’s be serious. If anyone thinks we would sell our prize assets for so little money they don’t have a comprehension of the game.

Why write that they are going to bid £1m for our players? Are they seriously going to make that offer? I don’t think so. Why would Alex McLeish phone me up with that offer?’

Rangers have already signed Kris Boyd from Kilmarnock and are desperate to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the SPL games and the knockout stage of the Champions League.

McLeish is obviously keen to sign up some of the best talent in Scotland and Brown would make a great addition to the squad.
