Rangers pursuit of Nicolas Raskin appears to be nearing a conclusion. Reports that a medical has been passed and a contract has been signed have been well publicised but doubts remained about whether or not a fee was going to be agreed before the transfer window shut.

Now though, The 4th Official has claimed, via their Patreon site, that the Belgian Under-21 international is soon to be on his way to Ibrox:

“Rangers have reached an agreement with Standard Liege for the transfer of Nicolas Raskin. Personal terms had already been agreed with the Belgian.

“As I said in my last post on the Raskin story from 5 days ago, Rangers were looking at a 4 and a half year deal for the midfielder.

“I don’t know the transfer fee but as reports indicate elsewhere the price is probably between £900k and £2.2m.”

Raskin is very much a massive coup for Rangers given how much interest their was in the 21-year old, he is also going to be an integral member of Michael Beale’s first-team squad and, perhaps more importantly, his starting line-up.

We have been crying out for a dynamic defensive midfielder, one who can dominate games physically and moves the ball quickly, Raskin is exactly that.

He is also a specialist in the role rather than a square peg and, alongside the addition of Todd Cantwell, we should see an entirely different look to a team that has long been in need of a few new faces.

Two down, how many left to go? A new striker next please.
