Absence makes the heart grow fonder, a phrase that certainly rings true for Ianis Hagi, especially after having to endure months of a lack of creativity from the current Rangers squad.

Malik Tillman has emerged as a difference maker, as has Fashion Sakala and, now that he is playing more centrally, Ryan Kent has also looked back to his best but Hagi will give our attack yet another dimension.

The good news is that Hagi has been fit for some time and in contact training but there is no need to rush him back at the risk of a setback, after scoring and assisting in a bounce game at Auchenhowie though, there is every chance that he could make a return to competitive action a year since injuring his knee against Stirling Albion.

Michael Beale’s squad is certainly starting to look a lot stronger, I’d be happier if he brought in another striker during this window seeing as we only ever seem to be able to keep one fit at a time but, when Hagi’s name is back in the match-day squad, it will be comforting for the manager knowing that he has the option to rotate or can turn to someone who can change a game – a quality that has been missing for some time now.

Hagi is back, and by the sounds of it, is raring to go.
