Will he, won’t he? The protagonist is Michael Beale and whether or not he wants to be the next manager of Rangers against a backdrop of uncertainty at QPR.

The west London club started the season on fire under their new coach but something of a slump set in over their last few games, coinciding with the real interest from Premier League Wolves toward Beale.

Now with Rangers understood to be seriously considering their former assistant manager to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst, a similar shadow is cast over Loftus Road just over two weeks before they restart competitive action in the English Championship.

Cognisant of this situation, former R’s full back Paul Parker has spoken out in the hope that their current leader makes his intentions clear very soon, so that they know exactly where they stand.

The 19-times capped England international stated:

“QPR supporters really need some clarity on what Michael is thinking if Rangers come calling.”

“The club has been looking for continuity since they were relegated from the Premier League (in 2015) and the last thing they need is a manager who is sticking his hand up for every job that becomes available. Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand the attraction of Rangers if that’s who they choose to go for.”

“I thought he made the right decision not to go to Wolves but there was so much speculation around that time and QPR haven’t won a game since.”

“Does he want to stay and see this through with QPR?”

Imminent

The sentiment expressed from Parker is perfectly understandable and even more so, from a supporter’s perspective. He added that they need to know whilst he understood personally why the attraction to return to Rangers, remains.

The endgame of this saga is likely to play out in the coming days. VitalRangers understands that Mick Beale is a frontrunner in terms of one of the preferred candidates for the role, but that could change as was shown by his own decision on the Wolves offer.

A return of sorts is guaranteed, either back up the road to Glasgow or back to the aim of winning ways with a lot of work to do, on those respective fronts.

I think Beale has done a good job and will be gutted if he goes, however since he’s been at the club he is always talking about Rangers or Villa when he should be talking QPR, I thought after the Wolves debacle that would be it, no manager or player is ever bigger than the club, and if he goes he will never be Welcome at Loftus Road ever again, I agree with Les Ferdinand we only want people who want to be at the club
